Compared with Merchant, you are less exposed to bad stock timing. That reliability matters because Shogun’s Reign is a progression RP game, not a pure clicker. Empty pockets make every social scene awkward. A few solid field sessions let you walk into bathhouse districts or stall rows without panic.

Mechanical farming can feel dry unless you add character:

• Write a short bio line about which village lane you claim as home.
• Decide whether your Farmer dreams of artisan craft, merchant ledgers, retainer duty, or simply a quiet Ambitionless life cycle.
• Use species choices like confirmed Ryūjin thoughtfully—fantasy ancestry plus muddy boots can be a strong OC contrast if you play it sincerely.
• Keep tags and weapons consistent; a Farmer who never explains a sheathed blade invites better scenes than a silent power fantasy.

Farming is also social infrastructure. Merchants need goods in the wider fantasy economy; attendants and performers need a populated Province; aspiring nobles need commoners who feel real. Your field work makes those scenes possible.

Typical next spends after a farming stake:

When to stop mainlining Farmer

Switch primary focus when:

• You can fund a housing attempt and still survive a dry day.
• Field loops feel solved and you crave stall logistics or service etiquette.
• Your OC story needs retainer, warrior, or noble friction that mud alone cannot supply.
